Hi, I’m Malia, a certified yoga instructor, writer, and mental health advocate.
I began my yoga journey ten years ago as a way to cope with anxiety. In my teen years, I started to struggle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Yoga was a wonderful way for me to reconnect with my body and find a sense of peace.
A year after completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training, I began experiencing panic attacks, which quickly spiraled into panic disorder, depression, agoraphobia, and depersonalization. During this time, yoga was literally my life line, and I made the promise to myself that I would dedicate time and energy to helping others heal through the power of yoga.
- Since then, I have started an Instagram account (@yogaforanxiety) dedicated to anxiety recovery.
- I published two E-books about my experiences and what I learned along the way.
- I launched a YouTube channel (MaliaYoga) to share yoga sequences and tips on anxiety recovery.
- I created a meditation program specifically for anxiety.
My hope is that by continuing to share my story, others will feel less alone, ashamed, or scared.
