Hi, I’m Malia, a certified yoga instructor, writer, and mental health advocate.

I began my yoga journey ten years ago as a way to cope with anxiety. In my teen years, I started to struggle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Yoga was a wonderful way for me to reconnect with my body and find a sense of peace.

A year after completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training, I began experiencing panic attacks, which quickly spiraled into panic disorder, depression, agoraphobia, and depersonalization. During this time, yoga was literally my life line, and I made the promise to myself that I would dedicate time and energy to helping others heal through the power of yoga.

My hope is that by continuing to share my story, others will feel less alone, ashamed, or scared.

    I just had to take a minute and tell you that your piece on anxiety and the use of mantras was incredibly inspiring and helpful. It’s so nice to read something from someone who has been there themselves. Plus we share the same name! Extra cool 🙂
